Government commission set up to organize Anatoly Grigoryan’s funeral
By a decision of Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, a government commission was set up organize the funeral of People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia, great Armenian painter Anatoly Grigoryan.
According to the commission release, decision was taken at the sitting that a service will be held in Surb Hovhannes Church in Yerevan’s Kond district from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on March 20, while the funeral ceremony will start at t12:00 noon on March 21 at Artists’ Union of Armenia. The artist will be buried in Yerevan City Pantheon.
To remind, Armenian painter, People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia Anatoly Hakob Grigoryan passed away aged 75 on March 17.
Anatoly Grigoryan was born in 1941, Leninakan (Gyumri). In 1961, he graduated from Terlemezyan Art College of Fine Arts and in 1967 – from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre.
During 1967-1976, Grigoryan worked at the Radio and Television Committee as an art director.
In 1970, he became a member of USSR Union of Artists Board of Directors. In 1977 Grigoryan was elected as Secretary of the RA Union of Artists.
In 1983, Anatoly Grigoryan was granted the rank of the Honored Artist of the USSR.
