Armenia among the regional leaders in the fight against non-communicable diseases
Armenian Minister of Healthcare Levon Altunyan has received on Monday the Director of the Division of Non-Communicable Diseases and Promoting Health through the Life-course at WHO/Europe Dr Gauden Galea, who is visiting our country to attend the round table discussion on “Non-communicable diseases, Prevention and Monitoring in Armenia”.
According to the release by the ministry, Dr Gauden Galea has noted that Armenia is among the regional leaders in the fight against non-communicable diseases, praising the active collaboration of the Healthcare Ministry with the Division.
At the meeting, Healthcare Minister Levon Altunyan has highlighted the promotion of health lifestyle, including establishing culture of physical activity, struggle against smoking, salt restriction, the efficiency raising through other similar programs as well as the methods to impact the human conscience.
In that respect, an agreement was reached with the Ministry of Healthcare to present proposals to the WHO experts for further assessment and recommendation.
