Armenia’s economic activity index rises by 6.2% in February-January 2017
According to the data released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS), in January-February 2017 the economic activity index of Armenia increased by 6.2% to compare with the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the economic activity index for February 2017 comprises 10.7% to company with January data and 6% with February 2016.
According to the same data, in January-February 2017 the volume of industrial production rose by 16.1% in the country, which is 10.5% more to compare with January and 19.9% more to compare with February data of the year 2016.
The gross agricultural output volume increased by 0.1% to compare with January-February data of the year 2016. The electricity production volume rose by 10.4% to compare with January-February 2016.
Meanwhile, during the first two months of the year the trade turnover increased by 9.6 to compare with the indicated period of the previous year.
As for the construction, in January-February of this year the construction volume saw decrease by 13.8% to compare with the indicated period of the previous year.
In January-February 2017 Armenia’s external trade turnover rose by 22.2%. In the mentioned period, the export grew up by 20.1 %, making up 273.7 million USD and the import increased by 23.5% amounting to 487.32 million USD to compare with the same period of 2016.
The indicators show that in January-February 2017 the average monthly nominal salary of the republic rose by 1.1 %. In the public sector, the average salary decreased by 2.5% and amounted to 153.7 thousand AMD. In the private sector, the salary rose by 2.9% totaling to 217 thousand AMD.
