The OSCE Minsk Group is the only factor that prevents the war in Nagorno Karabakh, the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly told an interview to Jnews.

Ian Kelly, who previously served as the U.S co-chairman of the Minsk Group, made the comments during his recent visit to Akhalkalaki and Akhalitsikhe. Asked about the possibility of a war around Nagorno Karabakh, the Ambassador said: “The most important thing is to exclude the war, since otherwise, consequences of the war would be unpredictable, including as to how it would affect Georgia. However, in my opinion, the war is in neither Armenia’s not Azerbaijan’s interests,” Ambassador Kelly noted, adding the war would destroy Azerbaijani’s economy. and the Armenians reject the war as well.

The Ambassador next highlighted the role of the Minsk Group which maintains a dialogue between the sides and plays an important factor in preventing the war.
