Armenia’s Security Service arrests two people on suspicion of smuggling IGLA missile system into Armenia
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) received preliminary information in March 2017 on Armenian citizens smuggling an IGLA type man-portable surface-to-air missile system form Georgia into the Republic of Armenia.
The Press Centre of the NSS told Panorama.am that due to the taken investigative and operative measures, the firing tube of IGLA type man-portable surface-to-air missile system with its 9M39 missile have been discovered and confiscated.
On 22 March 2017, the RA National Security Service launched a criminal case into the incident under Part 2 of Article 235 and Part 2 (Point 1) of Article 235.1 of the RA Criminal Code.
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of committing the mentioned crime.
The preliminary investigation is underway with measures being taken to reveal other individuals involved in the missile system smuggling and to uncover other circumstances related to the case.
Notice: The person suspected in or accused of an alleged crime shall be presumed innocent unless proven guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code in accordance with the Court’s verdict made effective.
