Armenia’s Special Investigative Service: Inspector falsified evidence according to victim’s report
Armenia’s Special Investigative Service has launched a criminal case into the incident of falsifying evidence of a particularly grave crime by an official conducting a special state service.
As the Press Service of the Special Investigative Service told Panorama.am, upon the obtained evidence regarding the criminal case, in the framework of the criminal case considered by the Armenian Investigative Committee regarding the attempted murder by a group of individuals, the victim in case Aram A. provided testimony to inspector of Investigation Department of Erebuni and Nubarashen Administrative Districts Mikayel Z., imforming that on 25.10.2015, on entering a bookmaking office, Henrik B. and Gevorg B. opened fire towards him and his friends inflicting gunshot wounds to them.
However, on 08.03.2017, during the preliminary probe of the same criminal case, Arman A. rejected the above-mentioned testimony, and being warned about the criminal liability in case of a false crime reporting, he informed that the inspector involved false information on the case details in the interrogation protocol.
In particular, according to Arman. A., during the questioning he did not inform that he had seen Henrik B. and Gevorg B who fired shots towards him and his friends. In addition to that, Arman. A. noted that the signatures on Page 3 and 4 of the same protocol have not been put by him.
Thus, a criminal case has been launched into the case of falsifying criminal evidence of a particularly grave crime by the inspector under Part 3 (point 1) of Article 349 of the RA Criminal Code.
Preliminary investigation is underway.
Notice: The person suspected in or accused of an alleged crime shall be presumed innocent unless proven guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code in accordance with the Court’s verdict made effective.
