Prominent Russian-Armenian test pilot Stepan Mikoyan dies at 95
Prominent Russian-Armenian test pilot, Lieutenant-General of the aviation Stepan Mikoyan has passed away at the age of 95, Panorama.am reports citing the official website of the MiG Aircraft Corporation.
Stepan Mikoyan was the only one of his brothers who was alive. The source reminds that Mikoyan was born on July 12, 1922 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
“His death is a loss to the national aviation. He lived a long and dignified life. His name will always remain alive in the history of the aviation and in our memories,” the statement reads.
Stepan Mikoyan created a total of 102 types of aircraft, including MiG-23, MiG-25 and MiG-27 planes.
To note, his bother Ivan Mikoyan passed away at the end of the last year.
