Armenian figure skaters to struggle for Olympics qualification
The 2017 World Figure Skating Championships kick off in Helsinki, Finland on March 29 with Armenian athletes represented in three events. National Olympic Committee of Armenia (ANOC) reports, that Anastasia Galustyan and Slavik Hayrapetyan will compete in the free skating, while Tina Garabedian-Simon Senecal - in ice dancing pair.
Head of Armenia’s Figure Skating Federation Melanya Stepanyan has told the source, the Armenian athletes should secure a place in the top 20 to earn qualification for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games. In Stepanyan words, however, the last opportunity to qualify for the main competition is the international tournament to be held in Germany which is scheduled for September.
