Each of the CSTO member states must do everything that depends on them for the establishment of stability in the (Caucasus) region. Deputy Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly (NA), Head of the NA Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) Eduard Sharmazanov noted the above-mentioned at the CSTO PA Council session held at Tauride Palace of Saint Petersburg, Russia, Panorama.am reports.

In his speech, Sharmazanov reminded that the CSTO has officially condemned the December sabotage infiltration attempt against Armenia, labelling the Azerbaijani actions as “provocation”.

“It is noteworthy to mention that except the statements made by the CSTO Secretary General and our Russian Parliamentary colleagues, the other allies of the CSTO refrained from making statements that condemn the Azerbaijani provocation. Such a behavor of Azerbaijan is a provocation against not only Armenia, but also the CSTO. Therefore, the condemning statements of the CSTO PA representatives are more than necessary,” E. Sharmazanov said.

He underscored that the Armenian Parliamentary delegation has stood for solely peaceful settlement of the conflicts in the CSTO responsibility zone, in particular regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“We must do everything that depends on us for the establishment of stability in the region. However, for strengthening peace and stability, Azerbaijan must first of all recognize the complete exercise of Karabakh people’s right to self-determination.

I hope that in case of working together and supporting each other in the international platforms, we can have our positive contribution in establishing and maintaining security in the CSTO responsibility zone,” Deputy Parliament Speaker noted.
