Ambassador Mills: US investors increasingly exploring real business opportunities in Armenia
“The United States has been a steadfast friend throughout the Republic of Armenia’s 25 years of history. Together we have forged a very strong diplomatic development, military, commercial relations as well as peoples’ ties for the last 25 years, U.S.” Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stated at the opening of a special photo exhibit dedicated to the quarter century of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Armenia.
Ambassador expressed gratitude in Armenian for the cooperation and sincere friendship, recalling the U.S. was the first country that opened an Embassy in Armenia in 1992 along with launching the USAID Armenia and Peace Corps programs.
Since 1992 the USAID Armenia has provided $1,1 billion US Dollars to the improvement of the lives of the Armenian citizens, Ambassador Mills stressed.
He next pointed out the cooperation on the economy front, saying it is “transitioning from aid to trade because of the impressive development of the Armenian economy and the business environment.”
“US investors are increasingly exploring real business opportunities in Armenia. Over the last 2 years alone the embassy has helped to collect $500 million dollars of US investments into Armenia’s energy and mining sectors,” the Ambassador noted, adding the United States is looking to extending the US investment in Armenia’s renewable energy, IT, and agribusiness sectors.
Ambassador also hailed the bilateral security partnership between the two states, saying it years-long history of cooperation is “a great source of pride”.
