Yuan appreciation to leave direct impact on world prices, Armenian economist says
As reported earlier, the People's Bank of China strengthened the position of yuan by 144 basis points against the U.S. dollar.
The correspondent of Panorama.am has talked to economist Tatul Manaseryan over the impact of the yuan appreciation on the world market prices.
Our interlocutor noted that any trend observed in that country with a powerful economy leaves a direct impact on the formation of the prices of the global market. “And this is simply based on the fact that China is considered the world’s ‘factory’. As for the possible impacts on the Armenian economy, the Central Bank, informing about the yuan appreciation, seems to send a message to the business community allegedly attempting to limit or reduce the capacity of the AMD,” the economist detailed.
Asked since when the consequences of the strengthening of the Chinese currency will be observed on the world economy, Tatul Manaseryan said that it will be visible on different goods in different periods of time.
“There are some products that can be under direct influence with some goods and services being impacted later. This is not an intentional process. Let’s not forget that not everyone acts in line of the credit resources,” he added.
Tatul Manaseryan noted that the delay in global economic growth has left an absolute impact on the Chinese economy, therefore rise in the Chinese currency was expected.
“However I will refrain from claiming that this will lead to concrete changes,” the economist concluded his remarks.
