Attempts to move discussions on the NKR conflict to other formats hinder Co-Chairs’ efforts to reach a settlement – Edward Nalbandian
Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian today held a meeting with Chairperson of PACE Sub-Committee on Conflicts between Council of Europe Member States, Co-Rapporteur on Azerbaijan Stefan Schennach.
As the Press Service of Armenia’s MFA told Panorama.am, Edward Nalbandian briefed to the guest on the efforts of Armenia and OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries aimed at exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karanakh conflict.
He underscored that Azerbaijan, unlike Armenia, regularly rejects the proposals of the Co-Chairing countries aimed at creating favourable conditions for the promotion of the peace talks and refuses to bring into life the agreements reached at the Vienna and St. Petersburg summits on the introduction of investigative mechanisms and the expansion of the powers of Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in Office.
FM Nalbandian underscored that the conflict settlement process goes on within the format of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship, which is the only international body authorized for the conflict settlement.
Edward Nalbandian added that the attempts to transfer the discussions on the NKR conflict to other formats and platforms, to initiate various resolutions in different structures distorting the reality, as well as the attempts to create other parallel mechanisms for the conflict settlement hinder the efforts of the Co-Chairs to reach a settlement and the latter themselves have warned about it on various occasions. The PACE also needs to take that warning seriously as well.
