Distribution, quality of fertilizers under control, agriculture minister says
“Both of the suppliers have already imported fertilizers to the extent in accordance with the made payment to the republic and will continue the imports and distribution,” Armenia’s Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan told the reporters during today’s press conference.
In his words, the distribution is clearly targeted with the quality and the quantity of the sacks of fertilizers under control.
“The lists provided by the regions are targeted. After the distribution, it will become clear whether the demand will increase or decrease. This is a stage after which we will probably turn to the non-subsidization of fertilizers, to liberalize the market starting from the next year. We might register better results in that case than we did this year,” Ignati Arakelyan said.
The minister added that currently fertilizers are imported only from Georgia. “We have no imports from Iran as of now, as the factories do not operate due to the holidays. The import of the Iranian fertilizers will begin after the holidays. The prices of the fertilizers imported from the two countries are equal – 7 thousand AMD, 1 thousand AMD of which is subsidized,” he said.
