Israel to cut its UN contribution by $2m over criticism
Israel is to cut its contribution to the United Nations budget by $2m - because of constant criticism by the UN Human Rights Council of its policies towards the Palestinians, RTÉ reported.
In a statement, the Israeli foreign ministry condemned "obsessional discrimination against Israel on the part of the United Nations and its agencies" to justify the cut.
It said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had "decided to allocate the two million dollars to international aid and to investment in developing countries which support Israel in international bodies".
Israel had already cut $6m from its contribution of $11.7m following a UN Security Council resolution passed in December condemning Israel's settlement building.
