Davit Babayan deems Minsk group Co-Chairs visit to Artsakh as important and interesting
The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ visit to the Republic of Artsakh was important since two of the Co-Chairs are newly-appointed and they visited Artsakh for the first time, Davit Babayan, spokesperson to Artsakh President told Panorama.am, when asked to comment on the results of the mediators’ recent trip to Nagorno Karabakh.
“They toured, attended the norther and southern regions of the country, visited capital city Stepanakert where they held a meeting with President Bako Sahakyan as well as a range of informal meetings. In this respect, it was a study visit which was very important,” Babayan said.
The spokesperson highlighted that Co-Chairs had subject-matter discussions over introduction of the mechanism into the ceasefire violations reached in the Vienna and St. Petersburg high-level summits.
Reflecting on Azerbaijani president’s recent warmongering rhetoric as well as reiteration of previous assertions about Karabakh conflict being an internal affair of Azerbaijan with no international organization and a foreign state allowed to meddle in it, Babayan said Aliyev once again displayed his explicit ignorance toward the Co-Chairs, especially with the statement made right after the mediators’ trip.
“The Co-Chairs understand who they are dealing with, a leader with psychological and behavioral disorders. Those statements are too strange to ascribe to any normal state with Co-Chairs and the international community expected to make relevant conclusions, since that is an expression of a tough Nazi terrorist and criminal policy,” Babayan stated, adding: “We are dealing with a state of poor state administration. The head of the state positions himself as a khan who exercises corresponding rhetoric that also comes to veil the domestic economic problems in Azerbaijan,” concluded Babayan.
