CEC Chairman: Two instances of voting equipment failure recorded
"The voting for the Parliamentary elections started at 8 a.m. in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and so far, everything proceeds normally.” the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Tigran Mukuchian, told journalists.
He said that overall 2,009 polling stations are operating in the territory of Armenia of which 12 are in penitentiaries to be opened later.
CEC chairman said that members of precinct commissions (15. 976) were punctually at their assigned polling stations, the absences were insignificant.
T. Mukuchian pointed out that for the first time technical equipment for verifying voters identity is being used. Overall 4000 technical equipment has been installed in polling stations throughout the country.
"In one of the polling stations the specialist of the technical equipment was replaced due to health problems. In two polling stations in Lori Region the technical equipment failed, hence the registration is being carried out by numbered cards," he added.
CEC chairman said that the opening of more than 92 percent of the polling stations was attended by media, local and international observers.
