Exit poll gives lead to the ruling Republican Party in Armenia’s Parliamentary elections
The ruling Republican Party has 46% of votes in the April 2 parliamentary elections in Armenia, according to exit poll results, commissioned by BS/The Gallup International agency jointly with the Sociological Association of Armenia.
The exit poll data, requested by Yerkir Media TV Company, were released after the polling stations were closed at 8 p.m.
Results were based upon 30,000 interviews of voters throughout Armenia randomly selected while walking out of the polling locations after casting ballot.
According to the results, the ruling Republic Party has received 46% of votes, followed by “Tsarukyan” bloc with 25 %, Yelq (Exit) bloc – 10%, and the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun – 5%.
Other parties and blocs running in the elections had less than 4% each with Armenian Renaissance party – 4%, “ORO” bloc - 3%, “Armenian National Congress – HZhK”, - 3%, Free Liberals and the Communist Party - 2% each.
To remind, under the new Electoral Code, threshold for the parties is five percent of the votes to secure representation in the parliament, while blocs require at least seven percent.
