Armenian Genocide library opened in Washington
The historians and researchers studying the Armenian Genocide will be able to make use of over 5000 publications in the Armenian Genocide library in Washington, U.S.
As the Voice of America told Panorama.am, the opening of the Armenian Genocide library of the Armenian National Institute (ANI) took place yesterday. The presented books in Armenian and English do not display the Armenian history and its national identity. Instead, they provide detailed information on the most painful incident of the Armenian history – the Armenian Genocide.
Director of the Armenian National Institute Ruben Adalian noted that the library features more than 5000 publications and they hope to increase the number.
“The library of the Armenian Genocide is only a part of creating a complete research center. We create a system through which the researchers will be able to make use of the valuable collection acquired by the Armenian Assembly of America and the Armenian National Institute in the past 40 years,” he said.
The opening ceremony of the library was attended by Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan.
“The opening of the library in Washington is an important event. Firstly, such a center is established in the U.S. capital, which is already a major achievement. Secondly, the center will become a place of meetings and discussions: a center of organizing coordinated activities. In this respect, it is more than a library, an information center,” he noted.
