Requests for vote recount rejected, Armenian CEC’s spokeswoman says
“Vote recount has not been carried out,” spokeswoman of Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Hermine Harutyunyan noted in an interview with Panorama.am.
In his words, all the four requests for vote recount have been rejected by the territorial election commissions on grounds that the request have not been submitted by eligible entities.
“Pursuant to the regulations of the Electoral Code, the candidate included in electoral lists of the parties running for elections is eligible to submit a request for vote recount in case he has observed the vote counting process at the polling stations. Whereas, the four regional candidates who have submitted vote recount requests failed to be present at the process,” the CEC’s spokeswoman said.
To note, the deadline of the requests for vote recount submitted to the relevant electoral commissions was set on 4 April.
