“I gifted a month-long holiday to women under the sour look of men”
“Conversation in Armenian” event, dedicated to Motherhood and Beauty Day celebrated in Armenia on April 7, was held on Thursday at the Charents Museum of Literature and Arts, attended by wives of the diplomats accredited in Armenia, women public figures and art workers.
Singers Anushik Harutyunyan, Sibil performed at the event, while Teryan Cultural center showed the “Future of the past” exhibit. The guests toured the exhibit halls.
Organizers of the event stressed the Armenian culture is the best means of communication, while the environment of the museum enabled exchange of cultural values and intercultural communication.
“I gifted a month-long holiday to women under the sour look of men. Now men accept the holiday with pleasure though and celebrate the month of women’s holiday,” Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan said, who had been one of the pioneers of adopting the respective legislation, while working in the National Assembly Standing Committee on Education, Science and Culture.
In Minister Hakobyan’s words women deserve to be honored the other 364 days of the year as well. “The Armenian woman is the pillar of the family, mainly carrying the burden of education and growing up children, at the same time being equally represented in the political, economic, cultural, and health spheres. 60 perc cent of the studentship in universities are females, and there is virtually no sphere when women are not exceled,” Hakobyan said.
Armenian Minister of Culture Armenia Amiryan, present at the event, noted every day should be marked as a holiday for women.
“I hope and confident that we will be able to design cultural events for this year to make a real holiday for women and girls. I vow that the cultural year will be filled with feminine beauty, breathe, and aroma,” the minister said.
