Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated and delivered remarks at the session of the Council of the CIS Foreign Minister which was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

As the press department at Armenia’s foreign ministry reports, the meeting was held in a closed than continued in extended format participated by the attending delegations.

The agenda of the session included issues related to the increase of efficiency of the organization’s activity, holding consultations among the foreign ministries of the member states, and adaptation of the institution to the new realities.

Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states exchanged views on urgent matters of international and regional agenda. 

According to the source, the ministers adopted statements on inadmissibility in tolerance and discrimination against Christian, Muslims, and representatives of other religious groups.

The Foreign Minister of the CIS member countries touched upon the issues of enhancement of cooperation in the fields of culture, education, law enforcement, emergency situations, cybersecurity.

The ministerial council adopted a decision to declare Armenia’s Goris town as CIS Cultural Capital 2018. The participants of the session also discussed and approved the drafts of 16 documents.

A decision was made to held the next session of the CIS Ministerial Council in October of 2017 in Moscow.
