Komitas Museum-Institute announces exhibition “Sound and Silence: The Musician and Musical Instruments Through the Centuries”
Exhibition, titled “Sound and Silence. The Musician and Musical Instruments through the Centuries,” opened at Komitas Museum-Institute on April 8. As the announcement released by the Museum-Institute reads, the exhibition aims to shed light on the history of creation and development of musical instruments, their functions, the cultural context, the role of the musician and the master instrument-maker throughout history.
It is noted that items from various sources are included in the exhibition, including but not limited to archaeological artefacts, digitized versions of manuscripts and gravestones, archival photographs, and traditional instruments.
The exhibition is supported by the RA Ministry of Culture and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin along with number of cultural institutions, Museum of History of Armenia, Mesrop Mashtots Scientific Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) Yeghishe Charents Literature and Art Museum among others.
The exhibition will be open until August 29.
