Armenian wrestler Artur Aleksanyan might not take part in the European Championships, head coach says
Armenia's national Greco-Roman wrestling team today wraps up the training camp in Tsaghkadzor.
Our wrestling team, led by head coach Levon Julfalakyan, is preparing for the European Wrestling Championships to be held in Serbia on 5-7 May. The coaching staff has already decided who will represent Armenia in the championship.
As the Press Service of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia told Panorama.am, the following wrestlers will take part in the European Championships: Gevorg Gharibyan (59kg), Karen Aslanyan (66kg), Rafael Aleksanyan (71kg), Karapet Chalyan (75kg), Sargis Kocharyan (80kg) and Maksim Manukyan (85kg).
“We will reveal the name of the athlete who will represent Armenia in the 98kg weight class on April 25. Artur Aleksanyan, the undisputed leader in that category, has hurt his knee. In case he gets in shape before the set time, he will join the team; otherwise he will be replaced by Artur Shahinyan. We have no representative to compete in 130kg weight class,” the head coach noted.
