Armenia has great potential for gastro tourism development, Nune Manukyan says
"Development and Preservation of Armenian Culinary Traditions" NGO is set to organize three festivals in this year. At today’s press conference, Director of the organization Sedrak Mamulyan informed that they will hold Dolma Festival on May 20 (location not determined yet) with Bread in the Mountains ritual and holiday food festival to be held in Tumo Park of Yerevan on June 10, to be followed by Barbecue Festival in Akhtala on 20 August.
Nune Manukyan, director of “Areni Festival” Foundation, who also attended the press conference, informed that this year they intend to implement a new project titled “Wine Days in Yerevan” to be organized in Saryan Street on 5-6 May.
“Saryan Street is already known as a wine street. It is not ruled out that similar events will be held in other streets as well,” she said.
As N. Manukyan said, “Traditions of Syunik” Festival organized by “Areni Festival” Foundation is set to be organized at Karahunj village instead of Goris on the first Sunday of July. At the end of September, traditional Gata Festival will be held in Khachik village to be followed by Areni Wine Festival on 7-8 October.
The speakers noted that they cooperate both with local and foreign tour operators, proposing tours during the festival period.
“Armenia has great potential for gastro tourism development,” Nune Manukyan said.
The organizers of the festival claim that it contributes to the development of the local communities.
Erik Barseghyan, President of “Art Fest” International Youth Open Festival, noted at the conference that their festival differs from other youth festival in a sense that it features more than a dozen art braches.
“This festival is gaining momentum year by year. We expect more guests and participants from abroad to take part in the festival this year,” he said, adding that although their festival was founded in 2013, it functions as an international cultural youth platform since 2016.
In the words of E. Barseghyan, as of now certain agreements have already been reached on involving foreign experts among the jury members as well.
