Record number of people underwent free of charge medical examination within “Open door days” initiative
This year 72 medical institution throughout Armenia joint the initiative of performing free of charge medical examination in the country’s region from February 23- to March 25, Tsaghik Vardanyan, the acting head of the State Health Care Agency at the Ministry of Healthcare told reporters on Wednesday, adding within the initiative, specialists provided counseling and if necessary laboratory examination to 17,158 citizens.
In the speaker’s words, the initiative aimed to raise the quality of the medical service to the people residing in marzes, provide better access to medical aid as well as contributes to the exchange of experience and collaboration of specialists of regions and Yerevan.
Vardanyan informed that medical centers in Armenian provinces lack specialists of narrow profile with some cases the required number is three times lower. ““Open door days” initiative thus comes to involve not only major medical centers but also ambulatories and policlinics,” Vardanyan said.
She next pointed out that the number of served citizens is unprecedented as in previous years some 5-6 thousand people used to apply for medical counseling.
