Henrikh Mkhitaryan sends classy message of support to Borussia Dortmund
Armenian national team captain and Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan sent a message of support to Borussia Dortmund following the incident on Tuesday when the team bus was hit by blasts after it left the hotel for the stadium and their Champions League game with Monaco.
“I was deeply shocked by the explosions last night in Dortmund, a city that has a very special place in my heart. I want to send my support to Borussia Dortmund, the fans and I also wish a speedy recovery to Marc Bartra,” Mkhitaryan, who played for Dortmund between 2013 and 2016, wrote on Facebook.
To remind, a series of explosions hit Borussia Dortmund team bus, injuring one of the players just before the team was due to play one of the big Champions League quarter-final first-leg ties. Football officials quickly cancelled the game, which was due to take place in Dortmund.
A German prosecutor says a letter was found near the team bus where explosives went off; but the details have been withheld. Police also say the blasts were ‘targeted attack against’ Dortmund. Police said in a statement they were working on the assumption that the blasts were caused by “serious explosive devices,” which may have been hidden in a hedge near a car park.
