Football academy to be opened in Echmiadzin
“Building a football academy in Echmiadzin is a must,” said mayor of the town Karen Grigoryan at the groundbreaking ceremony of football academy held on Wednesday. In the mayor’s words, the town lost its sport halls and facilities, while the need for reconstruction became imperative.
“At least 200 athletes go to football in different sport schools, as the city hall takes care for paying the coaches. We applied to the President of the Republic with a request to construct a football academy. Thus, the construction of the facility through the joint investment project of the state and the Football Federation of Armenia now is matter of 2-3 years,” Grogoryan said.
The mayor informed the modern infrastructure will be created at the two-story building of the academy which covers the territory of 1,100 meters.
The academy will have all the necessary conditions for professional trainings, including an open-air pool and a field with artificial cover and 3 fields with natural grass. The academy will have 500 seat capacity to host official matches of the football championship.
Karen Grigoryan next pointed that up to 600 children can train simultaneously at the academy. Additionally, the center will create 25-30 new jobs, with the average monthly salary of 130,000-150,000 AMD.
To note, the groundbreaking ceremony of the football academy was attended by Armenia’s President, UEAF President as well as the President of the Football Federation of Armenia.
