“Anna Karenina”: New TV series by Russian-Armenian filmmaker to air on Russian TV channel
“Anna Karenina”, new TV series by Russian-Armenian filmmaker Karen Shakhnazarov, will today begin airing on “Russia-1” Russian TV channel, RIA Novosti reports. The film consist of eight episodes. Citing the statement released by the official website of the TV channel, the source notes that Shakhnazarov presents his interpretation of the great novel in the film.
The film is based on Leo Tolstoy's novel “Anna Karenina”, as well as on the "Japanese War" journalistic story and “Stories about Japanese War” series.
The film follows the incidents happening 30 years after Anna Karenina’s tragic death. During the tense period of the Russo-Japanese War, Alexis (or Alexei) Vronsky decides to tell Anna’s son Karen Karenin about their relations. The full-length version of the film is under production.
