New fire and rescue equipment to be introduced in Armenia’s provinces
Armenia’s Minister of Emergency Situations Davit Tonoyan today held a meeting with Fushimi Katsutoshi, Head of the Delegation of the Regional Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The interlocutors discussed the grant programs jointly implemented by the Armenian and Japan governments, namely “Improvement of fire equipment” and “Public awareness network for crisis and disaster risk management” projects.
As Press Service of Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) told Panorama.am, the “Improvement of fire equipment” program aims at providing the Armenian provinces with new fire and rescue equipment.
The second program titled “Public awareness network for crisis and disaster risk management” intends to strengthen the public awareness capacity and crisis communication, which will lead to raising the public awareness regarding the emergency situations sphere in Armenia regions.
In his speech minister Tonoyan underscored that there is a potential for expending the cooperation with the JICA, which will lead to increasing the resilience to disasters and reducing the risks in Armenia’s provinces.
