Stepanakert military college after Q. Ivanyan of the Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) Republic Defense Ministry has been operating since 2011. Over the past two years the military institution has enrolled female students. Today, 11 females are studying at the college with 9 of them entered in the 2016-2017 education year.

First-year student Lena Amirkhanyan talked to Panoram.am, saying she was fond of military uniforms from early age and wished to become a military. The 2016 April war even strengthened her desire.  “The April war changed much in people’s mentality,” Amirkhanyan said.

Today, she honorably bears the military uniform, yet has not decided on her narrow specialization. “Before entering the college, I thought of becoming a military doctor, however, I will likely change my mind over the course of studying to become an officer.”

Lena Amirkhanyan argues anyone born on the land of Armenia and Artsakh is a soldier by default. “We are living in a region surrounded by foes. We should stand ready, all of us,” she said. 

To remind, Stepanakert military college after Q. Ivanyan participates in the education fair opened in the scope of the Army-Nation-2017 Forum underway in Yerevan. The fair will be open until April 23.
