Armenian Australians remember the Armenian Genocide
On the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, hundreds of Armenian Australians marched from Sydney's Hyde Park to Circular Quay on Sunday, Skynews.com.au reports.
The source notes that the demonstrators have called for the Australian government to recognize as genocide the mass slaughter of Armenians in Turkey more than 100 years ago.
The media outlet also talked to the marchers, presenting their key demands and calls. In particular, Ara Megerditchian told Skynews that his grandfather was orphaned as a child in 1915 and years later it still affected his whole family.
He said he wanted Turkey and the rest of the world - including Australia, where he was born and raised - to recognize what happened.
