First session of newly formed Armenian Parliament to be held on 18 May
The first session of the newly formed Armenian Parliament is scheduled on 18 May. Chairman of the of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Tigran Mukuchyan informed the reporters about the aforesaid, following the consideration and publication of the ruling on the appeal of the National Congress (ANC) – People’s Party of Armenia (PPA) opposition bloc against the official results of the April 2 Parliamentary elections by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia.
“Pursuant to the law, the first session of the newly elected Parliament is to be held in the third Thursday following the publication of the verdict by the Constitutional Court,” Mukuchyan noted.
He also informed that prior to the first session, the individuals involved in the lists of the parties and blocs that made it through to the Parliament, who want to lay down their mandates, must submit an application to the CEC, after which a protocol will be filed for those officials who receive the PM mandate.
In the words of the CEC chairman, until now they have received no application for mandate rejection. “I suppose this was based on the consideration of the appeal by the Constitutional Court. Probably everyone was waiting for the final decision,” he added.
To note, four political forces gained seats in the Armenian Parliament – Republican Party of Armenia, that will get 58 out of 105 seats, “Tsarukyan” bloc to be represented by 31 deputies, “Yelk” (Exit) bloc – 9 deputies and ARF-Dashnaktrutun to have 7 seats.
