New international project “Arts for Peace” launched today in Artsakh at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs of Artsakh. As “Artsakhpress” reports, at the press conference held on April 27 in the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, the artistic director of the project, a well- known Italian pianist and conductor Luca Ferrini expressed his readiness to contribute to the promotion of peace through arts in Artsakh.

"Our job is to present music, and you listen and bring peace as a part of this process. If there is an opportunity to develop arts, I think that it is the best way to establish and maintain peace,” said Luca Ferrini, as quoted by the source.

"This is my first visit to Artsakh, and I am delighted with it. I have seen Artsakh in photos, but it is better in reality. I toured the streets of Stepanakert and was photographed near the monuments of heroes. I came to see the wonderful land of Artsakh, "said the Belgian cellist Sevak Avanesyan.

The minister of culture and youth affairs of Artsakh, Narine Aghabalyan, welcomed the guests and noted that the new project is very important and it is dedicated to peace.

"We all know what kind of situation was in Artsakh a year ago. Our friends in those days were thinking not only how to help Artsakh with weapons, but with Sevak Avanesyan we were consulting how to gain musical instruments for the children of Artsakh.

The project is also interesting because of the fact that it proves that each one being at least once in Artsakh, understands what people live here and what kind of values they have. The same happened with Luca Ferinii who participated in the International Festival of Young Musicians “TNJRE” (in 2013 and 2015) and became a friend of Artsakh ", said N. Aghabalyan and noted that as a part of this program new artists will visit Artsakh periodically.
After the press conference the project participants, Luca Ferrini, violinist Jože Kotar and clarinetist  Črtomir Šiškovič from Slovenia and Belgian cellist Sevak Avanesyan had a joint concert at the Museum of Fine Arts of Shoushi.

Works by classical and modern composers were performed at the concert.

On April 30, the closing ceremony of the project will be held, which will end with a concert at Stepanakert Youth and Culture Palace, added the agency.
