Armenia’s Levon Aronian retains 6th place in FIDE ranking
Armenian GM Levon Aronian has retained the 6th spot in the newly published Fide ranking list, improving his position by three places with 2789 points. World Champion Magnus Carlen still tops the list with 2789 points, followed by Wesley So (2815) and Vladimir Kramnik (2811).
As the Chess federation of Armenia reports, two more Armenians are included in the list of the 100 best chess players with Sergey Movsesyan (2680) and Vladimir Hakobyan (2667), taking respectively the 64th and 83th places.
To note, Levon Aronian’s improvement of the personal rating came following the convincing win of the Grenke Chess tournament a week ago, where the Armenian finished the tournament with 5.5 points, 1.5 points ahead of Carlsen and Caruana.
