NKR armed forces closely follow Turkish-Azerbaijani joint military drills – David Babayan
The armed forces of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) closely follow the joint military drills of Turkey and Azerbaijan launched in Azerbaijan on 1 May. The NKR Defense Army is at its highest level of combat readiness. David Babayan, Spokesperson of Artsakh Republic President, noted the aforesaid in an interview with the correspondent of Panorama.am.
“NKR Armed Forces always demonstrate vigilance in spite of everything. If the drills are conducted in line with the scenario, i.e. without any complications, naturally we will only follow them. In case of other developments, we will certainly take countermeasures. As far as Azerbaijan is concerned, everyone knows what kind of state it is without even these exercises. It does not hide its fascist and expansionist intentions against Artsakh,” Mr. Babayan noted.
He also highlighted that Turkey’s participation at the military exercises on 1-5 May is highly controversial in terms of geopolitics.
“I do not think that these military drills are consistent with the interests of Russia, Iran and NATO. A NATO member state, Turkey in fact puts that organization in a bad situation. The Alliance ends up in a situation when one of its member states violates the rules of procedure due to its destructive policy. It turns out that either NATO fails to take control over the policy of its member state or Turkey blames its behaviour on NATO,” our interlocutor said.
David Babayan expressed conviction that if Turkey takes more actions than prescribed in the framework of the military drills, it can start World War III.
