“Sargis Muradyan: Darkness and Light” exhibition to launch at Sargis Muradyan Gallery
An exhibition titled “Sargis Muradyan: Darkness and Light” is scheduled to launch at Sargis Muradyan Gallery on May 5. In an interview with Panorama.am, Zaruhi Muradyan, Director of Sargis Muradyan Gallery, noted that this year marks his father’s 90th birthday anniversary (1927-2007).
“At this time I decided to display such works that have not been exhibited before and turned to the incomplete paintings from the late period of his artistic activity. To tell the truth, I know that he would not display them, however through the course of time you being to view those works in a different perspective,” the director said.
Zaruhi Muradyan has organized the exhibition in cooperation with art critic Lilit Sargsyan. It features Sargis Muradyan’s early works, as well as the paintings made during the years of independence.
“Upon entering the exhibition hall, the visitor will firstly see the painter’s optimistic works, filled with light and calmness. The small hall displays his works of the late period – his concerns, thoughts and the anxiety of his soul,” Zaruhi Muradyan said.
The exhibition will also feature the sketch of Muradyan’s diploma work about the topic of Battle of Avarayr painted in 1951. The work has never been exhibited before.
“It is a sketch, which was never completed as a painting due to its so called nationalist topic,” the director added.
The exhibition will be open for more than a month.
