“Yerevan Wine Days” to be held in Armenia’s capital on May 5-6
“Yerevan Wine Days” first-ever event dedicated to the development and presentation of the best traditions of the Armenian wine is set to be held in Armenia’s capital on 5-6 May. The event is organized by "Areni" Festival Foundation, in cooperation with the Yerevan Municipality and with the assistance of food blogger Anna Mazmanyan.
As Nune Manukyan, director of "Areni" Festival Foundation, said at the press conference on Wednesday, the event aims at promoting gastro-tourism in Armenia.
“Similar events are held in numerous countries, namely in Europe, when the Europeans want to present their national cuisine and wines to the tourists,” she noted.
Nune Manukyan reminded that Yerevan is the oldest cradle of wine – even older than Areni, as evidenced by the excavations conducted at Dalma gardens.
Gevorg Orbelyan, Head of Tourism Department at the Yerevan Municipality, in his turn noted that any interesting event aimed at tourism development is always in their spotlight.
“I think this is going to be a very interesting event, which will be held on a regular basis. In May a large flow of Russian tourists into Armenia is expected and the wine days will be very interesting to them,” the official concluded.
