Russia, Turkey discuss cooperation in arms production
Vladimir Goncharov, Deputy Head of Marketing Department of Russia's state-controlled arms exports company Rosoboronexport, has announced that the company is holding talks with Turkey over the cooperation in arms production, Ermenihaber.am reports, citing Haberler Turkish news agency.
Vladimir Goncharov told the Turkish news outlet that Turkey’s Ministry of Defense is interested in not only Russian air defense systems, but also in other types of heavier military equipment.
In addition to that, he noted that currently Turkey and Russia are discussing the prospects of military cooperation.
Mr. Goncharov informed that Rosoboronexport has conducted active negotiations with Turkish partners regarding the shipment of weapons since the end of 2016.
The source notes that Rosoboronexport is the organizer of IDEF'17 International Defence Industry Fair to be held in Istanbul on 9-12 May, with the expected participation of representatives of the Turkish government, the Turkish Armed Forces and arms industry sphere.
