Situation on the NK contact line is far from stable – Armenia’s MOD
The current situation on the Nagorno-Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact is far from being stable. The Azerbaijani ceasefire violations do not inspire hope that the conflict can be settled soon, Armenian Minister of Defense (MOD) Vigen Sargsyan said in an interview with Interfax news agency.
“We think that this situation of ceasefire violations certainly does not involve a prospect for the conflict settlement,” the minister said, underscoring that the current situation cannot be considered stable.
“Unfortunately, Azerbaijan rejects the reached agreements once again, which negatively affects on the process of the conflict settlement,” Mr. Sargsyan said.
Vigen Sargsyan also commented on deployment of foreign military bases in Armenia, adding that currently Armenia is not considering such plans.
“We have no such a request from the Russian side. The 102nd military base is highly important for us. We conduct intensive dialogue with our Russian partners regarding the modernization and the expansion of the military base. There are specific topics and directions we can cooperate in as a result of our joint efforts,” the minister noted.
