“May has been unique month in the history of the Armenian people. It started with Avarayr Battle on May 26, then the Battle of Sardarapat - on May 28, the victory achieved in the Great Patriotic War on May 9 and the eventually the Liberation of Shushi. All these victories make May unique and remarkable month for our people,” spokesperson to Artsakh president Davit Babayan told Panorama.am on the occasion of the May triple holiday celebrated in Armenia and the Artsakh on Tuesday. 

“The Armenians forged their victory, sometimes paying high price for that. Our people survived due to those victories as well. We would lose our historical lands had we failed to have those victories. Today, we feel the glory and the consequences of those historical events,” Babayan said.

In his words, these victories are great occasion to celebrate, since they showed that Armenians are capable to fight, establish a regular army, and prevail over the exceeding numbers of the enemy.

“I congratulate our people on the occasion of this great victory. Although we had many losses, we are proud of our heroes. We remember them which means still are they alive,” Babayan said.
