Armenian soldier shot dead, probe underway
On May 10, in the morning, an Armenian soldier identified as Gagik Arush Mesropyan, sustained a gunshot wound in a military post of one of the military units of Armenia’s Defense Ministry. The serviceman died while being rushed to the military hospital.
As Armenia’s Investigative Committee told Panorama.am, according to the preliminary evidence, G. Mesropyan sustained a fatal wound due to the violation of firearm handling rules.
The 6th Garrison Investigation Division of the Investigative Committee’s General Investigation Department launched a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 373 of the RA Criminal Code (Breach of rules for handling weapons which negligently caused the human death).
Necessary measures are taken to ensure the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation into the soldier’s death.
