Tehran reacts to Turkish reports on building wall along its border with Iran
Tehran has reacted to the Turkish reports on the country’s plans to construct a wall along its border with Iran, Panorama.am reports, citing ISNA Iranian news agency.
To note, according to the recent Turkish media reports, Turkey plans to build a wall on its border with Iran.
In an interview with ISNA news agency, one of the diplomats of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that Tehran is aware of Ankara’s plans.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is informed about the wall on the Turkish-Iranian border. Turkey seems to undertake such measures out of security concerns. However, pursuant to the international law, in case Turkey intends to carry out certain activities along its border with Iran, Iran must be notified about it,” the Iranian official noted.
As the BBC Persia reports, meantime the representative of Iran’s MFA expressed conviction that the construction of the wall will prevent smuggling of the goods from Turkey into Iran.
