Armenia’s MFA clarifies whether there are Armenian citizens in Yemen amid cholera outbreak
Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) currently has no information on whether or not there are Armenian citizens in Yemen. The concerns have been raised regarding the cholera outbreak in Sanaa, Yemen’s capital city.
Armenian MFA Sokesman Tigran Balayan told Panorama.am that measures are under way to clarify the information on the matter.
To note, state of emergency has been declared in Yemen’s capital amid the cholera outbreak. Earlier, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that 15 people had died of cholera at the end of April. Representative of the organization Dominik Stillhart noted that more than 8,500 suspected cases of the waterborne disease were reported in 14 governorates across Yemen.
Yemen’s Health Ministry called on the international humanitarian organizations to assist the country in its fights against the cholera outbreak.
