Armenian side exercises full control over the frontline situation, David Babayan says
On May 15 to overnight May 16, the Azerbaijani forces made over 55 ceasefire violations across the Line of Contact between Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh/NKR) and Azerbaijan, meantime applying 60mm mortar (3 shells) and rocket-propelled anti-tank grenade launcher (9 shells). In addition to this, Azerbaijan fired SPIKE anti-tank guided missile for the first time since the 2016 April war. However, the Armenian side exercises full control over the situation on the frontline, holding the strategic initiative. David Babayan, Spokesman of the NKR President, noted the aforesaid in an interview with Panorama.am.
“Such actions of the adversary can be labelled as another manifestation of terrorism. Moreover, this is a terror act not only against the Armenian side, but also the international community. Azerbaijan performs similar terrorist acts on the frontline, as well as in the political and legal sphere. It namely refers to the closure of the OSCE Office in Yerevan,” our interlocutor noted, underscoring that the international community has its share of guilt in this process.
