Hayren Choir and Orchestra to present Armenian folk songs in new style
Newly formed Hayren Choir and Orchestra is set to hold its first concert at Cafesjian Center for the Arts on 27 May. The concert program features national instrumental music, folk and traditional songs, as well as Komitas music. In an interview with Panorama.am, founding director of Hayeren Choir and Orchestra Vardges Aghasanyan said that they present the traditional Armenian music in a new style.
“Our playlist features folk songs in news interpretations. We have not applied any modern technique or computer programs; we simply developed and enriched them,” he noted.
Composer Hayk Grigoryan has made the developments. V. Aghasanyan highlighted that elaborations are made in a very competent manner, without unnecessary innovations.
The orchestra involves 12 musicians, with the choir having 10 members. The choirmaster is Kristine Khachikyan.
Mr. Aghasanyan noted that they made an announcement, organized hearings and chose the best performers when forming the group. He also added that all the members of the group are professionals.
Following its first concert, Hayren Choir and Orchestra also plans to hold concert tours in various cities across Armenia.
