An evening of German music was held on May 15 by Converse Bank’s initiative, dedicated to the first year since adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution by the Bundestag. The event was attended by representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps in Armenia, artists, and businessmen.

“We are grateful to the Federal Republic of Germany for its position in condemnation of the Armenian Genocide. This is a good example confirming that global values and culture are the best way to solve complex issues and to move forward”, - said Converse Bank’s Executive Director Artur Hakobyan, welcoming the guests of the event.

Lecturer of the American University of Armenia, historian Tom Samuelyan, emphasizing recognition and condemnation of crimes against humanity, expressed hope that adoption of the Armenian Genocide would help restore historical justice and would enable the legal successors of massacred Armenians to recover their rights in the future.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Armenia thanked Converse Bank for organization of the event. “After the adoption by Bundestag of the resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide, Armenian young people gathered in front of the German Embassy to express their gratitude to us and chanted “Danke, Deutschland, Danke Schoen”. I am proud to say that I am the only Ambassador in Armenia who was treated in this way”, - concluded the Ambassador, opening the evening of German music.

The works by Bach, Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, Wagner, and Armenian composers were performed during the evening, also by pianist Hayk Melikyan and by Honored Artist of Armenia Anna Mayilyan.
