“Get involved to end HIV epidemic” - public event to be held in Yerevan
May 21 is the World Remembrance Day of AIDS Victims, which is celebrated on every third Sunday of May.
The National Center for AIDS Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia (NCAP) along with “Positive People Armenian Network" NGO has planned a public event in Yerevan’s Norther avenue, entitled “Get involved to end HIV epidemic.”
The organizers plan to distribute information leaflets about HIV epidemic to passers-by, provide them with free of charge and confidential opportunity to get HIV testing and learn the results within 15-20 minutes.
The event is aimed at promoting the culture of HIV testing and counseling in Armenia among the population, change the existing stereotypes regarding the test as well as implement activities to respond effectively to the HIV epidemic, reinforce the prevention of the disease.
The testing and counseling will be carried out by NCAP specialists in the mobile clinic of AIDS center, donated by the Russian government.
