GLONASS navigation system transported to Armenia, waits for exploitation
Russia's 24-satellite navigational and global positioning system, GLONASS, was transported to Armenia and will be launched once the corresponding agreement between Armenia, Russia is ratified, members of the Russian State Space Corporation “Roscosmos” said at a meeting with Armenia’s acting Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan.
As the ministry reported in a released statement, “Roscosmos” delegation held working meetings in Yerevan with representatives of the MES Crisis Management Center, the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, and the Yerevan State University.
The parties will continue discussions on joint projects between the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory and “Roscosmos”. Issues related to the project on jont Russian-Armenian satellite, cooperation on education with “Roscosmos” as well as he modernization of the Armenian Space Monitoring Center are planned to be discussed during the meetings.
