OSCE Minks Group starts assessing the situation objectively – Ruben Safrastyan
The OSCE Minsk Group has started assessing the situation objectively, targeting Azerbaijan as the permanent violator of the ceasefire regime at Karabakh Line of Contact. This is something to be attributed to the Armenian diplomacy work, Director of Oriental Studies at the Institute of Armenian NAS Ruben Safrastyan told a press conference on Tuesday, commenting on the Minsk Group recent statement.
“This appears to have been a positive development which should be further encouraged no matter how long Azerbaijan continues its provocative actions and exerts pressure on the settlement process,” the speaker noted.
Safrastyan had difficulty to predict whether large – scale war is expected soon, saying the Aliyev regime controls the situation more or less in the country and will most probably go to war whenever his power is threatened. With this respect, he pointed certain processes underway in Azerbaijan.
Speaking of the role of Iran over the regional processes, the speaker first reflected on the presidential elections held in the Islamic Republic. In Safrastyan’s conviction, the elections came to show that Iran and Iranians are ready to vote for a liberate candidate.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran carries out quite balanced policy in the region,” explained Safrastyan.
