45% tourism growth recorded in April - Zarmine Zeytuntsyan
The number of tourists that visited Armenia during the first three months of 2017 increased by 18% to compare with the number in the indicated period of the previous year, Zarmine Zeytuntsyan, Chairperson of State Tourism Committee of Armenia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Investments told a press conference on Tuesday.
In her words, the first four months of the current year recorded 25% growth to compare with the indicated period of the previous year, while only April secured 45% growth.
Zeytuntsyan noted the April Four-Day war in 2016 negatively affected on the tourism flow, yet their data show, the number would have hardly got 45% even if the conflict didn’t occur.
“Iran, Russia remain the target markets for us. We have seen growth from Chine, Philippines. As to the visits through internal passports, more that 7 thousand tourists visited Armenia in the first two months of the current year. We are actively working with Russian media outlets, as several TV crews visited our country and made reportages about our country aimed at raising awareness of Armenia,” chairwoman of State Tourism Committee said.
